Furniture Glue Blocks
Hide glue's uniquely quick tacking makes it simple to add them.

The glue blocks used in this research were cut from yellow poplar and only one adhesive was used, namely, liquid hide glue, so that strictly speaking this expression applies only to joints constructed with yellow poplar glue blocks and assembled with liquid hide glue.
Liquid hide glue Use it for furniture repair; New glue doesn’t adhere very well to old glue, so you have to get rid of the old stuff before reassembly. Glue blocks and rub joints with hide glue.
PVA Glue PVA glue, also known as “aliphatic resins”, is great for wood-to-wood bonding, but it is not very effective in attaching nonporous materials. Use plenty of glue on each contact surface, and press the blocks firmly in place where they won’t interfere with a drawer’s movement. It’s a solid piece of wood that helps support the corner joints.
